In order to focus on the art form and honour dance artists Dance Information Norway has established an Honorary Award. The Honorary Award is comprised of the statuette and a scholarship of 25 000 NOK. Untill 2021 the statuette was Narren (The Jester) by Nina Sundbye and from 2022 Pi by Dag Skedsmo.
I The award was presented for the first time in 1995 and has the following criteria.
The Honorary Award is granted a person or institution that has done a remarkable effort:
• for the development of Norwegian dance
• for the art of dance
• for promoting the condition and position of the art form in Norway
