Delvis inspirert av en skeiv linedance-scene i USA, har arrangører over hele Europa brukt de siste årene på å bygge sine egne lokalsamfunn fra grunnen av.
This panel brings together some of the people behind that movement to talk honestly about what’s actually happening: why queers are showing up in droves to learn choreo together, what it is about Western aesthetics that we keep reclaiming and remaking as our own, and how a synchronized dance floor becomes one of the most genuinely inclusive spaces we can create.
We’ll talk about the work of building something new — what it takes to establish events where people feel free to move, take up space, and come back week after week. And we’ll get into why this particular art form, with its roots in communal participation and its campy, costume-ready aesthetic, is finding such fertile ground in queer Europe right now.
